Chennai, India – Veteran Indian actor Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai late Monday night after experiencing severe stomach pain, according to Chennai Police sources. The 73-year-old superstar was promptly taken in for medical evaluation, sparking concern among fans and industry insiders.
Sources close to the matter informed news agency PTI that Rajinikanth is scheduled to undergo an elective medical procedure on Tuesday. They added that his condition remains stable, and he is under close observation by a team of specialists.
As of now, no official statement has been released by Rajinikanth’s family or the hospital regarding the nature of the procedure or his current condition.
According to a report from Deccan Herald, the procedure will take place in the Cath lab and will be supervised by noted cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish. The exact details of the intervention have not been disclosed.

Despite health concerns, the actor remains active in the film industry. His upcoming film "Vettaiyan", directed by T.J. Gnanavel, is slated for theatrical release on October 10, 2025. The film, produced by Lyca Productions, marks a significant milestone in the superstar’s career as his 170th film.
The movie boasts an ensemble cast featuring industry legends such as Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Earlier, Lyca Productions shared a behind-the-scenes photo on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, showcasing Rajinikanth with Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil, further heightening excitement for the project.
